Consortium
HortiMED brings together a multidisciplinary consortium consisting of 4 partners from public & private research organizations and private companies, from 3 Mediterranean countries (Spain, Algeria, and Egypt).
The participants have been specifically brought together to provide the multidisciplinary necessary blend of knowledge, skills and expertise and with the joined focused purpose of developing novel tools assisting farmers to improve greenhouse management by integrating sensors, smart algorithms, efficient control procedures and incorporating valuable farmers’ experience through artificial intelligence techniques into a simple and easy to use DSS.
The consortium members cover the expertise required for the success of HortiMED project: INKOA SISTEMAS, SME specialized in greenhouse control and automation, smart monitoring technologies, DSS design and development; National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) with experience in IMTA, NFT and FRS hydroponics; Universidad de Deusto (UDeusto) with expertise in artificial intelligence techniques (AAA, FL, GA); and University Mohamed Khider, Biskra (UMKB) with extensive experience in IPM and bio-based pest control in greenhouses.
Besides, HortiMED is based on MAA with a strong engagement of end-users who will be grouped in HortiMED’s Expert users Board and will be continually involved as the project driving forces.
