The training course “Methods of smart hydroponics and aquaculture”, was held from 8 to 10 February 2022 at the headquarters of the Qanater Research Station – Branch of Inland Waters and Fish Farms- NIOF – Qalyubiya Governorate (Egypt). The training course was held by NIOF (HortiMED Partner) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment-The Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency and the Egyptian Association for the Development of Youth and Environment Projects.
Twenty seven participants (15 female and 12 males), most of whom were graduate students, took part in the course. They had the opportunity to see first hand the Egyptian demonstrative greenhouses of HortiMED Project where the feasibility of combining Integrated MultiTrophic Aquaculture (IMTA) with hydroponic horticultural production to maximize nutrient cycling resulting from culturing plants and aquatic animals is being evaluated.
